Apologetics for Teens-The Problem of Evil by Bethany Kaldas helps teenagers think through one of the oldest questions about faith: if there is an all-powerful, all-loving God, how can there be evil in the world?
Christians and atheists alike have asked this question for centuries, and one only has to look around to see that evil is real, whether as human sin, the suffering of living creatures, or natural disasters and disease. But the question can mean three different things. Is it logical for a good God to exist alongside evil? If it is, why would He allow so much of it? Or is the person asking not making an argument at all, but simply in pain over something terrible that has happened?
Apologetics looks for the most reasonable answers to these questions, while being humble enough to admit where human knowledge is limited. Most of all, the Christian remembers that Christ, through His own suffering and death on the Cross, has made death powerless and can turn any suffering into something He uses for good. We are never alone in our pain, and because of Christ we can say with confidence that love is stronger than death.
