Job For Teens

Job For Teens by Marc Bastawrous is an Orthodox Bible study of the Book of Job for teenagers, on keeping faith in God through pain and suffering.

The Book of Job is one of the wisdom books of the Old Testament, fit for all times and all people. It tells of the sufferings of a blessed man named Job, who faces many trials as well as the accusations of his friends. Through it all Job keeps his love for God, even though he loses patience with his sufferings and, towards the end, challenges God.

With its many characters and long dialogues, Job can be a confusing book, yet its message is clear and easy to relate to. In the final chapters the Lord, silent through Job's trials until then, speaks and questions Job about the secrets of the universe, and Job has no answer. God reveals Himself in the midst of Job's anguish to show that He is in charge, even when we cannot understand His ways.

Job is a character we can easily relate to as we learn how to deal with pain in the world while keeping faith in God. When it feels like we have hit rock bottom, Job teaches us that it is in the darkest times that God chooses to reveal His light.
