Practical Spirituality by Fr Athanasius Iskander is a practical guide for young Orthodox Christians in the 21st century who want to grow toward spiritual perfection, step by step.

Born again in Baptism, we receive the Holy Spirit, who lives and works in us so that we may reach spiritual perfection. The Bible tells us what we need to do to reach that perfection and gain eternal life, but it does not tell us how.

The Egyptian desert became a "university" for this search. The Desert Fathers turned it into a science, which we now call spirituality, and many came to learn their wisdom and record what they found.

Fr Athanasius borrows methods and techniques from these holy fathers and gives wise, practical advice on applying them to the struggles young Orthodox people face today.
